Hennes egen omtale
I Åpen gruppe for transpersoner i Skandinavia (https://www.facebook.com/groups/transene/permalink/1779143712104645/):
Hei, jeg laget en dokumentar i fjor om noen helt fantastiske mennesker i Cornwall, England. I dag slipper vi den online https://vimeo.com/218847270 . Sånn rent teknisk er det mye som kunne vert bedre, men den ble vist på Kortfilmfestivalen i Grimstad 2017 og KORT 2017. Håper noen her kan ha lyst til å se den. Er tekstet på norsk.

På egen facebookside (https://www.facebook.com/gumms.tha.rat/posts/10159872828550453):
https://vimeo.com/218847270 In 2015 we met some wonderful people, this film may not be perfect and there was lots more we wanted to film. It is a non profit production made aside school, and work because we just had to make a film with this lovely bunch. We are grateful that we got some funding from Filmkraft and for the venues that screened the film in 2017 but most of all for being allowed into the homes of these people. Mortimer and I have decided that it is time to release our 28 min documentary online. Please watch:

På Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/218847270):
28 min doc about the wonderful Jackie/Pixie, Paul/Paula , Roxy, Faye, Emma and Lynn of the Batcave, a place where you can be who you are, transgender, transsexual, cross-dresser it really does not matter.
Filmed in Cornwall 2015/ 2016. The film was in competition in the documentary category of The Norwegian Short Film festival 2017, it was also Screened at Kort 2017.

Fikk endelig sett denne.
Bra laget, takk for at du delte.

Takk.

Sweet Sixteen: A Transgender Story

BBC Wales: The story behind Sweet Sixteen: A Transgender Story

BBC Ones programomtale
This intimate and candid coming-of-age film follows a Welsh transgender teenager, Llyr Jones, as she turns 16. As she moves from childhood to adulthood, Llyr's understanding of herself crystallises and she begins to explore the new possibilities of adulthood and identity.

The film captures the key milestones in her progression - presenting as female at her school's Year 11 leavers' day, travelling the 13-hour round trip to London to get medical advice, celebrating her 16th birthday and beginning testosterone blockers.

Llyr, who still chooses to use her birth name, comes from a farming family in a rural Welsh-speaking area near Aberystwyth in west Wales. Her situation is unusual in the local community, and the programme offers a unique insight into a transgender teen's experience far from the diversity and cosmopolitan life of the city.

The programme explores how Llyr's transition is breaking new ground in a traditional area dominated by farming. We show how this young Welsh teenager is navigating these momentous changes in her life and reveal the importance of family, friends and self-belief on the path to transitioning at a young age.

Llyr was a main contributor in the BBC Wales documentary Swansea Sparkle: A Transgender Story (filmed in 2015). The programme showed her winning the title of Miss Swansea Sparkle 2015 at Wales's biggest transgender event. Referencing footage from the previous film, we track Llyr's ongoing transition and explore how that formative experience at Swansea Sparkle continues to influence her.

Cambrian News
Pupil to feature in documentary exploring transgender experiences

AN ABERYSTWYTH school pupil is due to feature next week in a BBC documentary exploring people’s experiences of being transgender.

On BBC One Wales on Tuesday night, 22 March, Body Matters: Swansea Sparkle — A Transgender Story, features 15-year-old Llyr from Bow Street who has just started the transition to become a woman.

The documentary follows Llyr, who is currently preparing for GCSEs at Penglais School, at the Swansea Sparkle, Wales’ biggest transgender event which is attended by the entire LGBT community and features information and advice stands, entertainment, and a pageant.

“It is me and two other people taking part and the show follows us going to the Sparkle event in Swansea, talking about it at home and getting ready for the event,” explained Llyr, speaking to the Cambrian News this week.

“It is a two-part event which has been going for four or five years.

“In the day time it is open to the public as an information day and there are lots of stands for advice and to ask questions.

“In the evening, there are talks and lots of information, singers, bands and that sort of thing, and also a pageant.”

Llyr said the event was an “eye-opener” - and despite winning the Miss Sparkle 2015 pageant, Llyr was more pleased to have just attended:

“It was definitely an eye-opener, but it was really nice.

“Everyone wanted to talk and made you feel safe, it was really nice.

“I won Miss Sparkle but that was just a really, really small part of it.

“The pageant is about personality and how much effort and time you put in, that sort of thing.”

Swansea Sparkle: A Transgender Story

BBC Ones programomtale
Telling stories that matter - Body Matters, a series of programmes on BBC One Wales looking at our relationships with our bodies.

Swansea Sparkle is the biggest transgender event in Wales - an event that is staged in the traditional heavy-industry city of Swansea. The programme follows three people from the transgender community as they overcome personal challenges in the lead-up to the event and explores themes of gender and identity. With a mix of ages and backgrounds, including the steel industry, they challenge perceptions about trans people, but also about the modern society in which we live. Will the city embrace the occasion? And are Welsh transgender people ready to stand up and be counted?

Paris Is Burning
Ny historietime.

Paris Is Burning is a 1990 American documentary film directed by Jennie Livingston. Filmed in the mid-to-late 1980s, it chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the African-American, Latino, gay, and transgender communities involved in it. Some critics consider the film to be an invaluable documentary of the end of the "Golden Age" of New York City drag balls, and a thoughtful exploration of race, class, gender, and sexuality in America.

In 2016, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

The African-American and Latino community depicted in the film includes a diverse range of identities and gender presentations, from gay men to butch queens to transgender men and women.

Wigstock: The Movie
Candis Cayne‬.

Omtale fra HOPE ST Magazine-artikkelen "The Five Best Drag Movies EVER":

2. Wigstock: The Movie
Next up at number two is the legendary Wigstock: The Movie, another documentary, but this time focusing on the annual drag festival that was held in New York City in the 1980s & 1990s. Hosted by the Mistress of Ceremonies, Lady Bunny, Wigstock is a dream festival full of performances from legendary Queens like Lypsinka, Joey Arias, Tabboo!, ‪Candis Cayne‬, Jackie Beat and mother RuPaul of course — even Leigh Bowery makes an appearance in a strange but spectacular performance involving a simulated live birth. Wigstock skips from iconic performances to interviews with the Queens themselves and the Wigstock audience, even talking to residents of the nearby area and the construction crew working on the festival, some of whom were not so pleased to see the Queens and company. The movies tagline is “A Celebration of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Big Hair!” and Wigstock: The Movie is a celebration of drag culture — but drag during a raw, revolutionary time, full of larger than life individuals and great performances. ‬‬

Wikipediaartikkelutdrag (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wigstock:_The_Movie):

Wigstock: The Movie is a 1995 documentary film focusing on Wigstock, the annual drag music festival that had been held New York City's East Village through the 1980s and 1990s. The film presents a number of performances from the 1994 festival, including Crystal Waters, Deee-Lite, Jackie Beat, Debbie Harry, Leigh Bowery, Joey Arias and the Dueling Bankheads. The film also captures a performance by RuPaul at the height of his mainstream fame during the 1990s.

Wigstock: The Movie also goes behind the scenes, examining the rehearsal process of a number of the performers including Lypsinka and the "Wigstock Dancers." Members of the crew assembling the stage and attendees are interviewed about their experiences at the festival and some of the performers give interviews about the importance of drag and transgressive gender expression in their lives. One memorable moment features Wigstock Mistress of Ceremonies Lady Bunny on the telephone with a city representative inquiring about the possibility of placing a wig on the Statue of Liberty.

Dragtime
HBO-dokumentaren Dragtime fra 1997 kom vel to år etter ovennevnte "Wigstock: The Movie" og handler om noen av de samme menneskene.

YouTube-omtale. Vimeo-omtalen er (vel) helt lik:

A film of a certain age that I co-produced for HBO's America Undercover series.  Lots of fun with some of the best performers/"gender illusionists" in the universe. Lypsinka! Lady Bunny! Varla Jean Merman! Joey Arias! Charles Busch!  Charles Pierce! Jem Jender! Candis Cayne!  Also with Raven, Lily White and Charlie Brown in Atlanta, Les Ballets Trockadero, Raven-O, Miss Understood, Flotilla De Barge, a Pride parade in Philadelphia, and, of course, The Pussycat Song.  What's not to like?

Okuhle Media:

As 14 contestants battle it out for the title of Miss Gay Western Cape in South Africa's biggest female impersonator pageant, we follow three contestants through the prelim rounds, into the back-stories of their lives, all the way to the outrageous spectacle of the big night.

The Princess
Glamour girl Kat and her long-term partner Errol are being hailed as the “Posh ʻnʼ Becks” of the gay scene. As a cabaret star, Kat is all about the bling, but she's barely holding it together after a string of tragedies, including the death of her father two weeks before the grand finale. Errol's pushing her to finish, but she's seriously considering dropping out.

The Mechanic
Eva is the ambitious newbie on the ramp; she's a motor mechanic by day who overcame homo- phobia in her workplace with jokes and charm. But will breaking out her ballroom dancing moves be enough to carry her through to the finals when itʼs her first time in the spotlight?

The Pre-Op
Cirque Du Soleil contortionist Kayden is the seasoned pageant pro who has already won 59 titles. The other contestants claim she has an unfair advantage – as a pre-op transsexual on female hor- mones, she has real boobs. Itʼs the last time she'll be able to enter this pageant before she goes for the operation, so the stakes are high.

Shot in HD, the film is both gritty and glamorous, capturing the humour, the drama, tears and triumphs of the girls who step out from the Cape Flats and onto the ramp to vie for the tiara – and the chance to be, Miss Gay Western Cape, South Africa.

Dokumentar i to deler.

YouTube-omtale:

Every year in the UK, 2,000 babies are born with ambiguous genitalia. Secret Intersex explores what it means to be born genderless by following a range of intersex cases: couples who have given birth to children with ambiguous genitalia and must decide, with a doctor’s help, on the gender of their child; a teenage girl who has lived with a penis structure for 15 years and is only now embarking on treatment; and an adult female who is still coming to terms with her gender after years of living as a male.
